Always Remember, A Note From The Publisher

Merriman-Webster defines humanity as, "compassionate, sympathetic, or generous behavior or disposition : the quality or state of being humane."

Empathy is defined as, "the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner."

Over 12 years and 3 months, we built a "community" on the Stark County, Ohio News and Views...; our page grew to 21,689 LIKES (fans).

It was rare (less than 10 times) that we had to run a "Publisher's Response" post due to people complaining about or attacking the page over a post.

We NEVER had to run an "Our agenda is...", an "It is our policy..." or a NO POLITICS/TROLLING IS PROHIBITED post.

Since April 6th, just a little more than 2 months ago, it's been necessary to run 21 of those posts. 22 including this one (on June 16)!

NO, I don't WANT to post about Covid-19, I don't WANT to oppose people who prioritize a political agenda over Public Health, nor do I WANT to post about misconduct of white police officers, including murdering unarmed black men.

I'm a JOURNALIST. Our website's "mission", and that of our social media pages, has ALWAYS been to promote and provide "new media" coverage of Stark County.

Any effort to satisfy everyone, I've said for many years, is guaranteed to fail. I AM NOT going to choose what I post, guided by fear that I will offend someone.

You can disagree, respectfully. You need not be insulting or abusive. You don't have to stop to complain and attack, every time you see something posted that you don't agree with. You can scroll by.

SHOW your HUMANITY, BE EMPATHETIC. Because I do both.
